Tree Management

Maintaining the health, longevity and safety of the urban Treescape

Trees are dynamic living organisms that require specific environmental conditions to thrive and maintain value as a green asset.

In the ever-changing urban landscape of Sydney, ongoing development and construction can compromise the environment in which the treescape exists. This can impact tree health and longevity and lead to situations where trees pose a risk to health and safety.

Managing these risks on construction sites and in public places is essential to reducing liability and potential harm. While tree removal is necessary in some cases, we explore all other mitigation measures to ensure this is the last option.

Treelink’s qualified Arborists are experts in tree management and provide a range of arboricultural solutions specific to the needs of managers of private and public sites.

Tree Removal

Expert tree solutions to best suit your circumstances

At TreeLink, we will always explore all possible solutions that allow us to retain a tree instead of removing one. If the tree has to be removed, we conduct a thorough assessment to provide a safe and efficient service and provide options for planting new trees to preserve our Treescape.

When should a tree be removed?

To mitigate the risks to public safety

Even the largest trees can become structurally compromised from defects in critical positions. If you suspect your tree is in trouble, TreeLink can conduct a no-obligation site inspection to advise you on the best course of action.

Following an emergency or natural disaster

If the tree has suffered extensive weather damage, has branches that look like they may fall at any time, or has a compromised root plate, it’s safest to remove it before it fails.

To stop the spread of invasive weed species

Trees classified as environmental weeds require removal as they often overgrow and out-compete our native flora. TreeLink can identify environmental weeds in your area and determine the best way to remove them.

To make way for essential development and infrastructure

If your tree seriously compromises the construction of a new landscape design, housing development or new infrastructure, the Council may allow its removal. We offer an end-to-end service, including obtaining all the necessary council approvals.

FAQs

Do I need council approval to remove a tree?
You likely will, but we can look after that. We have extensive experience managing stakeholders and approvals.
Our qualified Arborists are experts at removing trees in confined spaces, public spaces and under tricky conditions. It’s quicker and safer to leave it to the experts.
Transplanting large trees is often difficult and costly; however, every tree removal quote includes a list of tree species and sizes, including cost and installation, that are perfect replacements.

Some of the elements they may consider include –

  • risk of personal injury posed by the tree
  • risk of damage to buildings, structures or services
  • the tree’s health, growth habits, stability and structural soundness of the tree and the condition of the ground
  • the extent of the other trees on the property
  • the effect on the streetscape
  • the tree’s cultural or heritage significance or planting, particularly in a conservation area.

Tree Pruning

Cutting back the risk of future tree failures

Professional pruning done by qualified arborists is essential to reducing the risk of future tree failures in the urban environment and ensures the health of the tree/s is maintained post-pruning.

Why prune your trees?

To maintain clearances around roads and infrastructure

Ensure visibility and risks are minimised by keeping trees in check.

Risk mitigation

Improving trees' safety involves removing dead wood and structurally unsafe branches and improving the tree's structural integrity by weight reduction pruning. We provide professional Arborist Reports, which outline recommendations for hazard reduction and preventative measures to reduce the risk of an incident to public safety.

Aesthetics

Is the tree too big? Not growing the way you would like? Shaping a tree through formative pruning trains its future growth and improves its overall appearance.

To improve tree health

When branches die, it’s usually due to a lack of light, disease, pest damage, or damage to the root structure.

FAQs

Why can’t I prune a tree myself?
Pruning is dangerous work and should only be carried out by trained and qualified climbing arborists with an AQF Level 3 qualification. Not only do our staff have the knowledge and skill, but they also have the right equipment. Our initial site inspection shows the necessary work to solve the problem and restore the tree to prime structural condition and health. Our obligation-free quote includes marked photographs detailing precisely what and where we’re pruning.
Pruning guidelines often vary across different LGA regions so It’s important to check your local council website before carrying out any pruning works. Feel free to contact one of our qualified Arborists should you need any advice.
